The design and construction of the El Guasaule border complex was part of the border integration programme financed by the IDB and administered by the MHCP, divided into two zones: primary and accommodation.
This project boosts trade and tourism, with the automated and integrated management of its modern facilities for the attention of users. According to estimates by the Migration and Foreigners' Office, more than 3,000 tourists pass through this border crossing point, and in high season more than 6,000 people enter daily.
Primary Zone
Primary zone designed to contain a cargo complex, operational areas for the orderly flow of people entering and leaving the country, with the presence of all state institutions: National Police, DGA, Migration, MIGOB, MINSA, IPSA, Nicaraguan Army, INTUR, thus allowing for rigorous control of cargo coming from all over the country.
Accommodation Area
Secondary zone, or accommodation area located 1 km from the border post, which had the result of housing the personnel of the different institutions, a comfortable place to rest, common areas, washing and parking.
